Manage Availability and Notifications
Availability and notifications answer different questions: are you ready to receive work, and how should you learn about an event? You can be Online while browser notifications are blocked, or receive an alert while your availability is unsuitable for new assignments. Configure and verify each part separately.Start the shift with a clear status
Open the user menu and select Online, Busy, or Offline. Check the current account first: availability belongs to your membership in that account. Do not assume changing it here sets your status in another account.
Online expresses readiness, but new assignments also depend on routing settings, membership, and permissions. Switching Offline does not resolve your open conversations or establish that someone else has taken them over. Use the team’s handoff process for unfinished work.
The menu may also offer Mark offline automatically, allowing the system to treat you as offline when you are not using the application. Review whether it fits your working pattern. Closing a browser window alone is not a coverage plan for customer requests.

Open Profile Settings → Notification Preferences. For each event, select the delivery method you need, such as email or browser push. Events include conversation creation, assignment, mentions, and new messages in assigned or participating conversations. SLA events may appear when that feature is enabled.
Start with events related to your responsibilities. An agent handling assigned work needs assignment and new-message alerts; someone monitoring intake may also need conversation-creation alerts. Selecting everything can make relevant notifications harder to notice.
Event selections update when you change them. These preferences are account-scoped, so review them in each account where you work instead of assuming one account’s selections cover all others.Browser permission and sound need their own checks
For browser notifications, enable the relevant option and accept the browser permission request. Selecting an event does not override a browser or operating-system block on notifications.
Audio settings provide a tone, event choices, and conditions such as playing when the application tab is inactive. Configure the available options and test under matching conditions. If you limit sound to an inactive tab, waiting for it while actively viewing the conversation is not the same test.

Ask a colleague to assign a test conversation to you. To test a new-message event, follow that with a sample customer message. Make sure the selected event matches the action being tested.
If the conversation appears but no alert arrives, check the event and delivery selection, then browser permission or email delivery. If only sound is missing, check audio conditions, tone, tab muting, and device volume. If the conversation itself is absent, begin with inbox membership, filters, and assignment. Increasing volume will not fix access to the conversation.
